Cheesy Maya Render

Nope. Not much, but at least I can make something in Maya. 3d Render.

Ethereal

Consider this a transcendental experiment...in pain. Death to soft, ethereal atmospheric settings. Please.

Another Sci-Fi Piece...

Yup. I've been trying to get myself to the level of some insanely good concept artists. If you're at all interested, look up Ryan Church and Dylan Cole. Those guys are mad.

Comic

I'm currently collaborating with a very talented writer (aka Maya's brother Aaron--isn't it funny how he's starting to become a motif in this blog?) on a comic. This is one of the sketches to check if the style works or doesn't for the character.

Go?

Okay...so I know it's a redo...I wasn't quite satisfied with my lost shot at coloring my lines, so I took another swing at it with a more "painterly" style. It still sucks in my opinion. Geez. If I was a girl, colors would be easy. Just kidding. Kinda.

I recently (that is, yesterday) became cognizant of the fact that I am by far the least productive member of this little blog-circle o'joy. Alas, having been an artistic Neanderthal these summer months, I am unable to remedy the situation to my satisfaction. So am posting the single piece of anything resembling art which I have completed lately. It's the track list of a mix CD which I'm giving to me mate Re. Most of the songs are indie tunes copied from the most obliging Kori, in case you're wondering. It's pencil on vellum; I put white paper behind it when scanning but it's actually pretty transparent.

Shem, can I idly inquire what exactly the title of this blog is a reference to?

fuzzy picture, but one of my personal favorites. Drawing of Michaelango's Venus, Mars and Cupid.

mah gerrrandmah

sooo maya i've finally posted something on here! my one picture to your...eight? ah! perhaps i'll post some stuff from school, but in truth, this is the only drawing i've done all summer!!! i promise more though, once school starts again, and i've found where i put my motivation...
anyway, this a drawing of my grandmother back before she married my grandfather (age 24 ish?). i think i did a good job with it...but the expression is not quite right. speaking of motivation, my dad actually bought me an external hard drive in exchange for a framable drawing of his mother. this drawing was supposed to be a warm up sketch but at the moment, it looks a lot better than the really one...ehh, can we just frame this one?

emo: an experiment

My brother Aaron, my friend Rachel and I were all on a road
trip and i was just messing around sketching nothing really.
And then I started sketching this and little did I know that it
would start an entire project.
Anyways as I was sketching the close up image of this random
boy and writing my little commentary, "At the end of the world all
that's left is a man and his umbrella . . ." My friend Rachel was getting
a kick out of his hair and told me it looked totally emo which made me
add the last line, "and his emo hair . . ."
And then this sparked my brother to draw :
DEVIN

Which became the concept sketch for making
my brother emo . . .
Which was somewhat difficult to do considering my
brother has . . .

Pretty intensely curly hair! But at the end of it all
I would say that Rachel and I are quite talented at styling . . .

The result.
Hair by Maya and Rachel
Makeup by Rachel and Maya

The inner angst is just screaming in this photo!
Which led to this entire photo shoot, I'll post my favorites:

Photos by Maya
Model Aaron
I love these photos the angles and the way his shadows falling, also
the symbolism on the red stool just made it really work
I'm looking so forward to taking photo next year. This also really looked
like performance art if you were there. . .

I liked the expression this photo, the cast down glance,
and dang he has long eyelashes!

One last look at the hair. . .
That hair was a work of art!
And yes it is true when people say the hair changes people!

Overall this project was a blast and the three of us had so
much fun I really can't convey it . . .

Abstract

Something I did a long time ago like 2005. Thought I'd put it up
here because it is interesting. Done in charcoal (which is obvious!)
I like the expression on the lower right hand corner face. This is had to
be downloaded in two pieces so that's why it doesn't quite match up in
the middle.

Another Doodle

Another doodle from last night. Excerpted from my journal. Still Throw Me The Statue
inspired. Text are their lyrics still. I just got their album
and when I find a new band I'm into I pretty much listen to them
constantly until I'm sick of them, which is normally about a week or
two. Hahaha, my poor family.

A Reflection Upon Self

A sketch I did in Colorado on the back of a menu. I later
added the quote. I actually just added it last night. Doesn't
look like me (except the hair and what I was wearing)
but it was somewhat of a self-portrait.

Fire Sprites of A Falling Heart

An oil painting I did a couple days ago, make of it
what you will. But I strangely like it.

Doodle

A doodle I did last night while listening to
Throw Me The Statue, all text running through
are their lyrics. Pretty random but I had fun.
