This is a sort of self-portrait. Originally it was an image of me braiding this intricate braid, not realizing I was pulling my hair out of my scalp where I couldn't see it. It changed radically into what it is here, which I'm not entirely sure I like. The first concept seems more appropriate; this is too ambiguous. The drawing was once very clear but then I went hiking and when I came down I painted the entire thing with watercolors. After that, very little of the original drawing could be seen, so I traced it with charcoal, but I liked the original graphite much better.As I was descending the 170-step long staircase from my room to the art building, I ran into my Bulgarian friend Tosh. "What's this," he said, "the Green Man? Did you not have any other colors of paint?" But despite this, I think the background is right; watercolors are versatile, and for a self-portrait the green works.

It's very beautiful. Initially, it has a brilliant abstract look, but I loved how looking at the full view let me see the intricacy of the braids. The hair must have taken forever.
When I initially looked at this I was drawn right to your light point. I proceeded to gaze around the whole space consumed by your varying green tones. I only than realized after a minute that there was a figure and it took me a second moment to see the face and pose. Lovely I like the layers I like not seeing everything in one glance.
this is the same color my letter was painted with! :) ha, i think your friend's question was more appropriate than he could have know. but it is a pretty color, and works beautifully in this piece. i love how the water colors have so much depth, while the drawing ontop also gives it a flater, more graphic quality.
this has inspired me to do some art this weekend. i think i need to. thank you!
